Re: gas to go up again today?

Going to the middle east, the United States, and trying to eliminate terrrorism and all the supporters of it is like a VT fan going to a Miami game and trying to get people to support them.

When people have it indoctored into them from the day they are born that the US is bad, when the biggest fears that the people in an area had about a US lead force coming in was they would stay and try to take over, and thats exactly what is going on, how do you change minds and culture? You don't. You sit there and convince them that you're doing right for them and they are sitting there waiting for you to turn your head to club you in the back with a rock.

If the US had decided Saddam was the bad, went, took him out and left (even though it probably would have went back to some crazy rule), the people of the area might believe us more, and the next leader would have known when the US talked and told them to do something, they would have known we would do something about it.

Instead we talk about the guy who orchestrated the attack on the US, the guy who is still alive and roaming around, and say we have to take out the terrorists. Let's not forget, we keep saying that Saddam backed terrorists. I have no doubt he did. So Bin Laden didn't? After all, we have to take care of those who support it and endorse it, and the guy who is responsible for 911 is still alive.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

You seem to have a selective memory then.

Cant say that I can disagree with a word.

Exactly...we are fighting a war we can never win as far as the war on terrorism goes...and IMO, Saddam was one of the factors that stablized the Middle East...and sure the GOP and Dems in Congress voted for the war, BUT they were presented with false pretenses and manufactured info (aka LIES) to secure their vote. Someone wake me when they find WMDs in Iraq.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

And who carried the bullshit into them to vote? George went the home of terror, SA this week. Read the whole thread, he is quoted in one article for trashing Clinton , "Got to jawbone them people into sellin' us oil, 30 bucks a barrel is too high! Wait till I get MY plan in gear." We have taken our troops from a safe base and area to an area where they can be struck at any time. Provided the enemy with our latest tactics and weapons. Good move. Constant string of ranking officers retiring because somebody wanting to play soldier, I'm glad this about over , but the replacements might not be much better, overall. They will have to be better here. At least a change. And by the way, the oil under the Rockies has already been tapped- you can't read. They stopped when oil fell under 90 bucks a barrel. New tech may bring the cost of getting it out to $40, but it is just like your hero, Clinton didn't make laws by himself. Most of that was government land to start. If you don't want to read what I put up, stop the u tubes.

Except for the longevity and Kurds, Bush and Saddam are approaching equal footing- minus the hanging.

"Bush launched into his standard comic-book defense of the war on Iraq. To protect America, he explained, the United States must fight for freedom and democracy in Iraq and elsewhere. (WMDs in Iraq? Whoever said anything about WMDs in Iraq?) "We do not forget," Bush said, the people who live in undemocratic "Syria, Burma, Zimbabwe, North Korea and Iran." He did not include China in this list. And in Iraq, he continued, "terrorists like bin Laden...aim to seize power" and use Iraq as a "safe haven to launch attacks against America and the world." He added, "A sudden withdrawal of our forces from Iraq would abandon our Iraqi allies to death and prison...[and] put men like bin Laden and Zarqawi in charge of a strategic country."
Form a state of the union address. Next year's will be short- "very poor." Look it up he has been saying this forever.
nevermind-
"Axis of evil" was a term coined by United States President George W. Bush in his State of the Union Address on January 29, 2002 in order to describe governments that he accused of helping terrorism and seeking weapons of mass destruction. Bush named Iraq, Iran, and North Korea in his speech. Bush's presidency has been marked by this notion as a justification for his War on Terrorism."
